Taric

Roadmap

What we’re building next

Public, honest, and not a promise of dates. “Now” is what we’re actively working on; “Next” is queued; “Later” is what we want to do once the queue clears. Plans change.

Now

Actively working on this.

  • Speech recognition and shadowing

Listen to a sentence in native audio, speak it back, get a character-overlap score. Uses the Web Speech API — no extra account required. Closes the loop with the reading/listening/writing skills the app already exercises.

  • Weeks 2–4 of the starter curriculum

Week 1 covers the 30 most common characters and four sentence patterns. Next: cover the 100 most common characters, more sentence patterns, and a first short story by the end of week 4.

Next

Queued, next up.

  • Bigger mnemonics set

Grow the hand-authored character mnemonics past the current 30, and add memory hooks for high-frequency multi-character words and idioms.

  • Anki .apkg export

Export your saved vocabulary as an Anki deck so you can review on devices where Taric isn't installed.

  • Public uptime page

A simple status page so you can tell at a glance whether something is wrong on our end.

Later

Wanted, not yet scheduled.

  • Native iOS and Android apps

Offline reading, native gestures, lockscreen audio. The shared core library is already split out for this; the apps themselves are a longer build.

  • Graded readers in your level band

Algorithmically generate short stories tuned to the words you already know, so the next thing you read is comfortably comprehensible.

  • Sentence mining from your own library

Pull example sentences for review from books you've actually read, instead of always pulling from Tatoeba.
